Technical Advisory

At your service

CPW is fortunate to house experts across many technical specialisms, with a depth of knowledge in specific sectors. Our pre-eminence in Research and Development, Innovation and Sustainability is a shining examples the market-leading proficiency we bring to our clients’ projects.

These experienced engineers, experts in their field, provide an advisory service based on their strategic understanding, technical prowess, market awareness and communication skills.

The role is completely flexible and is tailored to suit the needs of the project. It ranges from long-term involvement on major developments to troubleshooting a single item of plant.

We have previously consulted on a wealth of projects, ranging from master planning a university campus, upgrading the infrastructure of an airport, to providing technical peer reviews and supervising complex overseas designs.

Estate Infrastructure Support

Our capabilities range from high level analysis of long-term estate development strategies to detailed condition surveys. We’ve previously replaced energy centres and main distribution on sites where service continuity is critical to operational integrity. Meanwhile, our Sustainability and Innovations teams inform fundamental parts of the strategic approach in relation to energy, whole life cost and conservation of resources.

Outline Business Cases

We’ve previously supported larger projects to develop the OBC on work with NHS Trusts and Local Councils. It is an ideal opportunity to consider sustainability in the wider sense so we look to include advice from our specialist teams in Passivhaus, BREEAM and Innovations.

Full Business Cases

For full business cases we provide an extensive overview that considers all aspects of value engineering, functionality and client expectations. We spend time with stakeholders to develop solutions that meet their specific needs. We also guide clients through the short, medium and long term effects whilst considering efficiency, maintainability and perceived quality.

Technical Overseeing and Review

Our dedicated Technical Group become part of the client team. These are some of our most experienced and technically aware engineers. They provide valuable insights on system optimisation and the evolving technologies in play. In collaboration with the team, they target simple and practical solutions that are easy to install and maintain and work well.

Performance Monitoring

The performance of building engineering services has a significant effect on occupant wellbeing, as well as running costs. We provide an ongoing service to validate commissioning results, examine energy use and monitor quality of room environmental conditions.

Post Occupancy Support

Through our soft landings programme we provide aftercare support to building occupants and managers, working with them to optimise and control their environment for greater comfort and wellbeing whilst minimising running costs. We undertake user satisfaction surveys which feeds into our own passion for better understanding and continuous improvement.

Knowledge Sharing and CPD Seminars

We offer a range of CPD seminars to clients, these include workshops on fundamental design calculations and processes, introductory courses on basic system selection, and in-depth analysis of emerging technologies that offer great potential for our clients sites.

Expert Technical Troubleshooting and Investigative Surveys

Working to investigate and determine the solution for deep technical problems on installations that would be otherwise unknown. Our Power Engineering team have previously investigated electrical voltage instability issues, relay protection settings and earthing problems. Our Lift specialists undertake numerous surveys to review machine reliability and traffic flows.

Specialist Secondment

We’re able to place team members on secondment with established clients. Oftentimes this can be done to address a resourcing gap, to address general design, specific supervision and project management duties, or the need to provide expertise in a specialist discipline.

Bicester Eco Town arial view.jpg

Featured project

This prestigious £80m development is a continuation of the UK’s first eco-town in North West Bicester, providing 228 new energy-efficient homes.

The development is a zero-carbon project with other exciting sustainable features. Local companies and friendly construction materials coupled with zero waste to landfill, meant embodied carbon was also minimised.

As a result, the project was awarded Bioregional’s One Planet Living status, one of only 10 developments globally to achieve this prestigious and well-sought accolade.
