Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer to join a growing Vertical Transportation team. This leadership role will be working alongside other very well respected and experienced engineers in the industry and will provide the opportunity to work on several prestigious projects including high-rise residential schemes.

This is a permanent full-time position, based at our Solihull Office, working 36.25 hours per week under our agile framework. We would consider applicants to operate from one of our other UK offices, should this be required.

Key responsibilities

This role contains a clear pathway through to a management position. The position initially is to support the MEP teams across the business with lift advice and design as part of the wider projects. However, we would also want the candidate to move into a business development role, with the ability to win work and grow the team in a short to medium time frame.

The key responsibilities of a Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop vertical transportation design concepts, calculate number, size and speed of lifts for all types of buildings including high rise

  • Carrying out surveys and producing reports on existing installations

  • Preparing specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed

  • Operating as part of the wider design team and have input throughout the project stages

  • Attending progress, design team and co-ordination meetings

  • Witnessing commissioning

  • Understanding and implementing company Health and Safety policy, and Environment Policy

Key Attributes

  • Relevant academic background such as a degree, HNC or equivalent

  • A proven track record in vertical transportation design and business development

  • Competent at undertaking lift traffic analysis and preferably come from a consulting or lift contracting background

  • Competent with engineering calculations and relevant software

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to converse with and convey ideas to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Key Attributes

  • The successful candidate will have a Degree in Power System Engineering or related discipline and previous experience of working in an engineering environment.

  • Experience of using ETAP (IPSA+, ERACS, Power Factory, Amtech HV or similar) software.

  • Experience of using Revit software would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • The individual should have good communication skills, a strong willingness to learn and a desire to develop new and existing skills.
