The Journey continues with Planet Mark
CPW has successfully renewed its Planet Mark Business Certification, marking seven years of independently verified carbon measurement and progress. The certification reflects our ongoing commitment to understanding and reducing the environmental impact of our UK operations, while embedding sustainability more deeply across the business.
Working in partnership with Planet Mark since 2019, we’ve continued to evolve our approach year on year. This latest certification represents a step forward not only in performance, but in transparency – with a more comprehensive view of our carbon footprint helping to shape the next phase of our net zero journey.
Over the past year, we’ve taken an important step forward in how we measure our footprint. Alongside our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we’ve expanded our Scope 3 reporting to include employee commuting and a broader range of supply chain emissions, including our operations in Poland and India. This provides a more complete and transparent view of our overall impact.
Speaking about the latest results, our Director of Sustainability, Dr Stephen Ball, shares:
“Looking at the previous year’s data, it’s been another really positive year. Over the past six years, we’ve already achieved a 30% reduction in emissions – and this year, we’ve successfully reduced them even further.
“One of the key developments has been recognising the true scale of our global supply chain. We’ve now expanded our reporting to include operations in Poland and India, ensuring that every part of the business we influence is accounted for.
“Achieving this level of transparency doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time to gather the right data, in the right format, and it’s very much a collective effort across multiple teams. Reaching this stage has taken years of work – but it’s essential. If we don’t understand how we’re performing, we simply can’t improve.
“That’s why Planet Mark plays such a crucial role. It gives us the framework and rigour needed to measure accurately. With the procedures now in place to capture our full impact, we’re in a much stronger position to continue reducing emissions and improving our overall environmental performance.”
Against this updated baseline, our like-for-like carbon footprint for 2025 is 16.2% lower than our 2024 comparable scope data, with reductions achieved across our Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
While this is positive progress, we recognise there is more to do, particularly in reducing our Scope 3 emissions. This expanded dataset marks a new, recalibrated starting point, helping us to focus efforts where they will have the greatest impact.
CPW remains committed to becoming a net zero carbon business by 2035, covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions across our UK operations. As part of this, we continue to target consistent reductions and encourage everyone across the business to play their part, whether through sustainable travel choices, smarter use of energy or more considered decision making.
Planet Mark certification remains an important benchmark for our progress, helping us stay accountable and focused as we continue our journey.
We’re also proud to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals as part of our wider sustainability strategy.
