CPW’s GRESB Results: Building on Year One

This year CPW completed its second annual assessment of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance for our Solihull Headquarters under the international benchmark, GRESB. The assessment was led by Hazel Andrews, Director of Sustainability, who has taken forward feedback from last year’s results and worked with our team to strengthen our submission.

What is GRESB?

Launched in 2009, GRESB is now recognised as the global framework for assessing ESG performance in the built environment. It provides a clear, consistent methodology that organisations can use to evaluate how their buildings and operations perform against sustainability goals.

Each year, participants receive a GRESB score, allowing them to benchmark progress against peers while highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement. For property owners, investors, and developers, GRESB is a valuable decision-making tool, offering independent evidence of performance that can strengthen investment cases, attract occupiers, and support compliance with evolving ESG reporting requirements.

Beyond a number, a strong GRESB score demonstrates transparency and accountability, helping organisations build trust with stakeholders and remain competitive in a fast-evolving sector.

What does a GRESB Assessment cover?

The assessment evaluates a wide range of sustainability and governance topics, including:

  • ESG objectives

  • ESG policies

  • Energy consumption

  • Water consumption

  • Greenhouse gas emissions

  • Waste management

  • Employee health & wellbeing

  • Social responsibility practices

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Completing our second GRESB assessment has been a fantastic opportunity to reflect on what we’re doing well and where we can improve. Seeing our score increase by 10% is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone across CPW. These results give us clear insights to shape our ESG strategy, and guide the next steps in making our buildings and operations even more sustainable.

CPW’s ESG performance

In its second year, CPW achieved a GRESB score of 73/100, marking a 10% improvement on last year’s results. This reflects significant progress across a range of criteria, particularly within operational efficiency and ESG governance.

Building on the strengths identified within our first year, including energy consumption, GHG emissions, water use, and employee wellbeing, we have refined our processes and policies, taking on board feedback from our initial submission.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the assessment process. These results are more than just a score, they provide meaningful insight that will shape the next phase of our internal ESG strategy. By building on the outcomes of our recent staff survey, we will continue to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure our approach reflects both our people and our sustainability ambitions.
