Graduate Public Health Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Public Health Engineer to join us at CPW, based at our Solihull office. This is a permanent full-time position working 36.25 hours per week under our agile framework.

Key responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Work on a variety of interesting projects across a range of sectors, gaining exposure to different building types and client requirements.
Support the delivery of projects through all stages, from initial concept through to completion.
Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and wider design teams to achieve project goals.
Assist in the production of technical drawings, schedules and specifications.
Undertake design calculations using both manual methods and industry-standard software, with guidance from senior engineers where required.
Develop an understanding of project delivery, ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards and within agreed programme timescales.
Liaise with colleagues across different disciplines to understand client requirements and help develop effective design solutions.
Build technical knowledge in public health engineering design and systems coordination.
Attend project and design team meetings, representing the Public Health team with support from senior colleagues.
Develop an understanding of sustainability principles and the implementation of low and zero carbon (LZC) technologies.
Support site visits and inspections to gain practical experience of installations and compliance with design intent.
Participate in Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities and stay informed about emerging technologies and industry developments.
Develop an appreciation of other engineering disciplines and how they integrate within building services design.
You will become an integral part of our Public Health team, working alongside experienced engineers who will support your professional development. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and keen to develop their technical and professional skills.
Experience & Qualifications
We welcome applications from recent graduates and early-career engineers who are looking to build a career in public health engineering.
Essential
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline (or HNC/HND with relevant experience).
A genuine interest in Public Health and Building Services Engineering.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
A strong willingness to learn and develop new technical and professional skills.
Desirable
Relevant work experience through placements, internships, year-in-industry programmes, summer work or graduate employment.
Basic understanding of above ground drainage systems and public health design principles.
Familiarity with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD and other building services engineering tools.
Awareness of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance.
Exposure to healthcare, residential, retail or commercial building projects through academic studies or work experience.
Knowledge of sustainability principles, renewable technologies or BREEAM.
An interest in working towards professional membership with CIBSE, SoPHE, IET or another relevant institution.
