Bicester Eco Town

Client: Crest Nicholson Regeneration

Our Approach

The brief

This prestigious £80m development is a continuation of the UK’s first eco-town in North West Bicester, providing 228 new energy efficient homes.

The development is a zero carbon project with other exciting sustainable features. Local companies and friendly construction materials coupled with zero waste to landfill, meant embodied carbon was also minimised.

As a result, the project was awarded Bioregional’s One Planet Living status, one of only 10 developments globally to achieve this prestigious and well sought accolade.

Sustainable design

Electricity is generated from PhotoVoltaic (PV) panels installed on each home, and heat and hot water come from the community’s own heat and power plant. The scheme is expected to be the UK’s largest residential solar array as the development expands.

The ground floors for each plot were manufactured off site in order to assist the programme, improve quality control further and lower embodied carbon.

Additional features include rainwater harvesting, smart metering and energy monitoring system and remote electric car charging stations.
