This new build three storey laboratory building provides specialist cancer research laboratories.
The facility includes three research pathology laboratories and a dedicated histopathology laboratory together with consultant rooms, chiller rooms, freezer rooms, support lab and office accommodation.
The building’s mass has been optimised to act as an environmental modifier, while the inclusion of brise soleil and optimisation of the glazing performance reduces solar gain and maximises daylight.
Intelligent lighting control provides the optimum in reducing associated energy consumption with the use of absence/presence detection and daylight sensing/dimming.
In addition to the CHP, roof mounted photovoltaic panels were specified, further offsetting the carbon emissions of the building.
