Located in the heart of Sheffield city centre, the former National Union of Mineworkers offices are housed within an iconic and historically sensitive building. Quest Property wanted to breathe new life into the abandoned, coal-fired building with its plans to refurbish, remodel and extend the building to create retail units as well as 1,500m2 of speculative grade A office space.
We worked closely with the client from the conceptual stages, providing advice during the pre-lets stage to accommodate upgraded incoming gas and water services to the A3 retail units. This assisted the client in bringing on board new tenants, including Turtle Bay and Marstons, during the design process.
As the office units were being created speculatively, we worked to ensure that the grade A specification was reached within a strict budget from the outset.
As well as providing performance design services to the development team, we also took on a checking and monitoring role of the detailed design proposals and on-site installation.
