The schemes involve one extension, and three new build environmentally responsible eco-vicarages which enhance the Diocese’s sustainable credentials. The homes are both Passivhaus accredited and meet the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Code Level 6 ‘Zero Carbon Home’ criteria.
The energy demand of the Eco-vicarages is reduced to an absolute minimum by designing a super-insulated building envelope with triple glazing throughout. A super air-tight construction is also specified to prevent heat losses to the environment at building junctions.
The energy requirements associated with artificial lighting are kept to a minimum using low energy luminaires that have very high optical efficiencies coupled with reflectors that have high purity light reflection properties.
