This building houses the University’s Department of Music and comprises a new 450-seat auditorium and associated research, teaching and rehearsal facilities.
Our approach was to create a high quality internal environment using robust, cost effective and energy efficient systems.
The building services have been designed around the optimisation of low energy, highly efficient solutions using fittings and accessories that complement the architectural philosophies of the new building.
The lighting in the auditorium has been designed to minimise the burden on the maintenance team, using energy efficient LED luminaires with dimming controls and sensors.
We have utilised passive design strategies, enhancing the building envelope to limit energy loss and heat gain throughout the building fabric, and introduced zoning for flexibility.
