CPW highlights of 2018

2018 has definitely been one for the history books with not one but two royal weddings, the ‘Beast from the East’, the joint hottest UK summer on record and a number of Trump related blunders across the pond.

However, it’s also been a memorable year for us here at Couch Perry Wilkes with a number of promotions, project completions and awards. Here is our top ten round-up of the year:

  • CPW’s 40th anniversary

This year we celebrated the 40th anniversary of Couch Perry Wilkes. Each office has been celebrating in its own way but in June this year the entire company gathered at Umberslade Farm Park for a family-friendly summer celebration with good food, live music and exciting activities.

  • Leicester office move

In July our Leicester office relocated across the city centre to St Johns House. The team – led by Matt Wrate – has had a busy year with a number of big projects such as Hotel La Tour in Milton Keynes.

  • University of Northampton Waterside campus completion

This project has been in progress since 2014 however this iconic £330 million campus is now complete and has been handed over to the client. This was a unique project for the CPW Huntingdon office, as the energy system has to be designed before the rest of the campus.

  • CIBSE heating accreditation

In October this year we were delighted to announce that 12 of our experienced engineers attained the accreditation to join the CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) Heat Networks Consultants Register.

  • Promotions across the company

Recognising expertise and rising stars is key to our business and we’ve had a raft of promotions across the firm this year, including our new directors; Nilesh Mistry and Gareth Moad.

We had another successful year at MIPIM with Carl Standley (London office), Ash Cowdrey (Nottingham office), Carl Humpage and Antonios Agapakis (Birmingham office) representing the company.

  • 3 Peaks Challenge

The annual 3 Peaks Challenge took place in May this year for the seventh year in a row. 14 staff members, led by Neil Forster, undertook the physical and mental challenge of hiking up Scotland’s Ben Nevis, England’s Scafell Pike and finally Snowden in Wales in under 24 hours. Very impressive!

  • Our biggest trainee intake

2018 saw our biggest ever intake of trainees across the offices. 12 joined the Solihull office, one in Bristol and four across the East Midlands. We pride ourselves on actively supporting young engineers so we’re delighted to have a bumper year of trainees and apprentices.
