University of Bradford’s STEM building is on target to receive BREEAM ‘outstanding’

The completed £1.5m Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) building has achieved Passivhaus certification and is on target to receive a BREEAM rating of ‘outstanding’ due to its highly sustainable credentials.

The new development is approximately 400m² Gross Internal Area (GIA) and comprises high quality laboratories, prep rooms and offices.

Some sustainable features include:

  • Maximum daylight and beneficial solar gain due to façade optimisation
  • Natural and mixed mode ventilation
  • Passive cooling strategy
  • Use of natural, sustainably produced materials.
